At Wessex Lodge School all of our practice is underpinned by Thrive which is an established research and evidence-based approach that focusses on obtaining the best outcomes for children and young people.
Thrive helps children and young people feel safe, supported and ready to learn. Thrive has been providing training, tools and insights to organisations and individuals for over 25 years and is a leading provider of support for children and young people’s social and emotional development.
Using Thrive, our aim is to support our students to become more emotionally resilient and better placed to engage with life and learning. We are able to achieve this by adopting a whole-school approach where all staff foster the understanding, skills and knowledge needed to develop and sustain positive, healthy relationships, that in turn supports the social and emotional wellbeing of our students.
All staff receive in-depth training on the Thrive principles led by a team of fully trained Licenced Thrive Practitioners, who work across all of our sites.
We do not just deliver Thrive as a standalone subject, it is an ethos that runs right through all aspects of our provision from outreach to academic learning.
The work we do helps to improve attendance, behaviour and attainment.
